Bleeding Heart by Amber Stokes

Bleeding Heart by Amber Stokes

Five bleeding hearts. One profound journey.

Summer 1886

Sally Clay's livelihood has been snatched away, but in its place arises an opportunity to escape from her sordid past and an unrelenting, unwanted suitor. Boarding a train with a heartsick rancher and an enigmatic miner, she leaves Virginia City behind and heads to Northern California, waiting for the chance to make right what went wrong three long years before.

But the road to revenge is far from smooth. Sally soon learns that the jagged pieces of a broken heart can far too easily wound the hearts of others - and hers isn't the only heart that's broken. Tragedy and fear dog her steps as she flees from the redwood forests to the high desert and back again. Will her bleeding heart ever find a way and a place to heal?

A desperate soiled dove. Three men who come to care for her. One man determined to claim her.

All on a journey that will show them what true love really involves.

My Thoughts:

This debut novel took me by surprise in many ways! It’s not your typical “light and fluffy” read from the world of Christian fiction. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy a “light and fluffy” story just as much as the next girl, but I also enjoy being so shocked by a plot change that I have to put my book aside for a moment to register what just happened. Amber blows the “predictable” label that often comes with Christian fiction right out of the water.

Bleeding Heart is a dark story. There’s pain and heartache, but there’s also healing and forgiveness. As the title suggests, this story is the journey of five hurting people that cross paths in one way or another.

Amber writes beautifully, and I can’t wait to read what she pens next!

**Through Labor Day weekend, Bleeding Heart is only .99!!!!

  2. Bluerose!! I love your review, and I so appreciate you reading Bleeding Heart and sharing your thoughts on it! :D

I kept thinking... Did I neglect to assign you a blog tour date?? I can't remember now if it was because I hadn't heard back from you, or because there was an issue with the scheduling, or because I am just completely ridiculous. I'm so sorry if you were planning on being part of the blog tour and I messed it up! :\

But this is very nice to have a review come on the conclusion date - plus to have you mention the sale is so helpful! Thank you for everything! I'm so thrilled you liked Bleeding Heart!
