Over the Edge by Mary Connealy

Seth Kincaid survived a fire in a cave, but he's never been the same. He was always a reckless youth, but now he's gone over the edge. He ran off to the Civil War and came back crazier than ever.

After the war, nearly dead from his injuries, it appears Seth got married. Oh, he's got a lot of excuses, but his wife isn't happy to find out Seth doesn't remember her. Callie has searched, prayed, and worried. Now she's come to the Kincaid family's ranch in Colorado to find her lost husband.

Callie isn't a long-suffering woman. Once she knows her husband is alive, she wants to kill him. She's not even close to forgiving him for abandoning her.

Then more trouble shows up in the form of a secret Seth's pa kept for years. The Kincaid brothers might lose their ranch if they can't sort things out. It's enough to drive a man insane--but somehow it's all making Seth see things more clearly. And now that he knows what he wants, no one better stand in his way.

My Thoughts:

This is the 3rd book in "The Kincaid Brides" Series, but it's the first one I've read. As much as I enjoyed this one, I imagine I would have enjoyed it even more if I'd read the first two books to fill in more of the details. It did read perfectly fine as a stand-alone, though.

Callie is one of those fun, "tough as nails" kind of girls. She thinks crying is a waste of time and she can handle a gun better than most guys. I adored how she still made her man feel like she needed him to protect her! Seth is an unusual leading man, to say the least! He is crazy in the head. Now I know perfectly well that ALL of us need love and affection, but I'm still a little surprised he grew on me as much as he did. He had a great deal going against him.

Over the Edge is a fun, action packed Western story. If that sounds interesting to you, and it should, then definitely pick up a Mary Connealy book!

My Pop-Up Bible Stories by Juliet David

My Thoughts:

I collect pop-up books, so when My Pop Up Bible Stories came up for review, I didn't hesitate! When I pulled it out of the package, it was very tempting to hide it from my boys. I might have for a minute or two, but I did decide to share. We're very careful with it, so it can go in my collection in relatively good shape. ;)

It's important to know that this book is purely for the "Wow" factor. There's only 5 VERY summarized stories throughout the book. They are the story of baby Moses, Daniel in the lion's den, Jesus raising a little girl from dead, the lost sheep, and Jesus calming the storm. Each two page spread contains a few sentences summarizing the story, and a big pop-up picture of a scene from that story.

The pop-up feature is great, in my opinion. While they aren't the most detailed I've ever seen, by any means, they are MUCH nicer than the cheaper pop-up books that are usually only one piece. There's several pieces working together to create the scene. The only issue we've had so far is on the "sheep" scene. The shepherd's cane gets stuck every single time. It's not a huge deal to us, though. We gently move it back in place and all is right. :)

Overall, I definitely recommend it for younger children(with supervision) as a quick, entertaining Bible lesson.
