Author Interview:

Tell us a little about India Was One.

The idea for the book’s storyline had been playing around in my head for a while. I finally decided to pen it down in January, 2010. When I started to write the book, it took me less than a week to pour down my thoughts. I knew where I wanted the chapter to end. I knew how many chapters I wanted. But then it took me over year to expand on my ideas.

You've chosen to publish India Was One anonymously....tell us about that decision.

I want the readers to concentrate on the story without being distracted by my religion, caste, etc.

What is the target age group for readers of your book?

10+. The book is for everyone. Although the story takes place in India, it has a universal message of love, friendship, tolerance and patriotism. Anyone, of any age, from anywhere will be able to relate to it.

The synopsis:

…Suddenly, he saw something shiny at the bottom of the abyss. He squinted his eyes to see what it was. He ran back to his binoculars and turned them to see what it was. Sharp barbed wires that separated the two mountains came into focus. He had come as far as he could in his country. But she was standing in another country.
He was in South India and she was in North India…

Have you ever imagined India being divided into two countries? What happens to the millions of Indians who are from South India but are now residing in North India? Kaahi & Jai were two such people who got trapped in this situation. Everything was going smoothly for them and suddenly, their world turned upside down.
How will they get together? Will India become one again?
Take an exciting journey with them from their college days in Mumbai to their life in the US and back to India when they find out that India is divided.
